The coming Speculation Tax is now predicted to hit British Columbians the hardest. It is estimated that two-thirds of the homeowners who will end up paying the Speculation Tax will be from BC.
BC resident owned homes will account for approximately 20,000 of the 32,000 homes subject to the new tax. This the quite the opposite of the common belief that foreigners and out of province owners will be taking the brunt of the tax.
Owners with multiple properties in the Capital Regional District will be affected by this with the exception of the Gulf Islands.
